From a Wall Street Journal Article on the future of WalMart’s approach to CD Sales:
“It’s going to be a world where they (WalMart a)re going to carry less titles,” says Scott Siman, the manager for country superstar Tim McGraw, who has had extensive dealings with Wal-Mart. Earlier this year, Wal-Mart was the exclusive outlet for the launch of a custom-flavored snack called Tim McGraw’s Spicy Jalapeño Fritos, and the star’s “Greatest Hits: Limited Edition.” The chips and CD were sold together in a $12 “combo pack,” helping the disc debut at No. 1 on Billboard magazine’s country chart in April.
In other news, I’m going to quit school and work on a deal comboing Brit-Brit’s next record with a Flowbee.
It’s not every day that a letter from a lawyer can be filed under both “hilarious” and “mathtastic” but this missive to the California DMV from Spinal Tap fan and self-described long-haired former heavy-metal guitar player Keith Wagner (esq.) is definitely worth considering.
Hey, I’ve been putting the p’cast together (and I hope you’re still listening) but I wanted to actually take a few extra minutes this week and add a playlist. I hope you and your’s had a safe and restful long holiday weekend.
As always, the show is available to listen to (eventually) on Odeo, Podnova and Podcast pickle. Also, for a short time only, I’m going to make it available here on the website as a direct link: http://www.pwithouti.com/music/episode64.mp3. (Let’s see how the bandwidth holds up!!). Subscribers need only add http://www.pwithouti.com/feeds/podcast.xml to their iTunes or iPodder…
Playlist (and links to “Buy the Rekkid”) after the jump… (more…)
Me? Kinda busy. But I’m back. Happier and better than ever…and I come bringing rock and also roll. Unfortunately, this week’s show gives a little indication that maybe I’m outa practice. It’s not that it doesn’t have great tracks because it does (check out The Decemberists, The Candy Snatchers, Jim Bryson and a ten-minute long metal odessy from Winnipeg’s Electro Quarterstaff). You can hear Episode 58 by just pushing play on that little box over to your right —-> or by putting http://www.pwithouti.com/feeds/podcast.xml into your iTunes or iPodder. Tracklist after the jump.
I’m not so self-involved that I figure you might actually be wondering what I’ve been doing over the last few months, but in case you want to actually read something I’ve written, Mike over at bitter leaf fan (the second best KIND of Leaf fan after an ex-leaf fan) has been publishing some interesting playoff preview stuff. I’ve contributed my disbelieving Sens Fan perspective.
I’m making a trip to the record store this week and I can’t WAIT. Any suggestions? (more…)
I know I haven’t put up tracklists in weeks. Please forgive me and enjoy the podcasts as if there were tracklists. Or make your OWN tracklists and send them to me (that’d be BOSS).
Much love to the Godfather in this episode of the podcast which contains some of my favourite rare (and not so rare JB tracks) as well as a special dedication to the woman who recently agreed to become my wife. Tracklist after the jump but before we get there, here’s some things that made me go hmmmm over the holidays:
- On December 13 Frank over at Chromewaves skipped his first day of blogging in nearly three years. He’s back on the horse (though he took another day off between Christmas and New Year) but I wanted to once again restate the love for his work. Congrats on a break well earned, Frank and good luck on the next three-year streak.
- I’m not saying that the new leader of the liberal party is boring, but the last time I saw something that wooden it had Christmas gifts under it. (Ka ZING)
No, I haven’t had time to write a top ten albums list, but I have come to the conclusion that 2006 was one of my least favourite years in recent memory. Some highlights? Calexico, Gnarls Barkley and The Acorn. I’ll try and pull together a podcast list of some of my favourite singles before the month is out.
